Multi-location healthcare SEO that lets every branch win its own suburb

When a group has six clinics in one metro area, its own location pages are often its biggest competitor. I build the structure that lets every branch rank for its own suburb, its own services and its own clinicians, with one set of rules that scales from 3 locations to 50.

This is query fan-out: Google’s AI Mode and AI Overviews split one question into many searches, and ChatGPT search rewrites it into several. The practice whose pages answer the most of them, clearly, is the one the answer names.

Three scoreboards. You need all three.

The page that pays

A copied template competes with itself. A real branch page ranks.

This is where multi-location SEO pays. Eight blocks on every branch page, each proving it is a real, distinct place. Count how many yours has.

What I build

What I build for multi-location groups

Why groups cannibalise themselves. Most groups copy one location template, swap the suburb name and publish. Google sees ten pages saying the same thing, picks one, and the other nine sit on page three. Each branch's Google Business Profile then uses slightly different names, categories and phone formats, splitting the local signal again. Fixing it is structural: which page owns which search, and how every location proves it is a real, distinct place with real clinicians.

Every engagement follows The Patient Decision Path: each page is mapped to the stage a person is at, and the stages are linked so a first search can end in a booking.

Location architecture

one page per site, with its own clinicians, services, hours, parking, accessibility and booking path. Canonicals and internal links set so each page owns its suburb and nothing else.

GBP fleet management

categories, services, attributes, photos and Q&A across every profile, with one naming and NAP standard so no branch contradicts another.

Citation control

audit and correction across 50 to 100+ healthcare and general directories; inconsistent listings quietly suppress the whole group.

Service and clinician depth

group-level service pages linked to the locations and clinicians that provide them, so a patient searching a treatment finds the nearest place that actually offers it.

Reporting by location

Looker Studio dashboards showing calls, forms and bookings per branch, so managers see which locations search is filling and which need work.

From my multi-location audits

Four problems I find on group websites, and how I fix them

These are the problems I see most in this sector. Each one costs bookings quietly, and each one has a specific fix.

1Template location pages

what I seeTen pages with the same 400 words and a different suburb name, so Google picks one and ignores nine.

what I check, then fixA similarity check across all location pages. Each page rebuilt with that site’s clinicians, services, parking, access and photos.

2Profiles named three different ways

what I see“Harbour Physio”, “Harbour Physio Group” and “Harbour Physiotherapy Riverside” across branches split the brand signal.

what I check, then fixEvery profile name, category and phone against one standard. One naming rule, applied to every profile and every directory.

3One branch hogging every search

what I seeHead office ranks for every suburb, so patients are sent across town and give up.

what I check, then fixMap Pack rank grids per branch for your core services. Internal links and profile services set so each branch owns its own area.

4Reporting that hides the weak branches

what I seeOne combined dashboard shows growth while two locations get no new patients from search.

what I check, then fixCalls, forms and bookings split by branch. A location-level report every month, with the branches that need work named.

01What is multi-location healthcare SEO?

Multi-location healthcare SEO is the work of making every branch of a medical group rank in its own area. It covers a distinct page and Google profile for each branch, one naming and address standard across the web, service and clinician pages linked to the branches that offer them, and reporting by location.

02How many locations can you manage?

I've worked with groups from 3 sites to dozens; the structure is the same, the audit just takes longer.

03Do you work alongside our existing agency?

Yes, I typically own organic search and Google profiles while another team runs ads or brand.

04Do hospitals need something different?

Hospitals add departments, consultants and campuses to the same problem, same principles, larger page model.

05Why do branches of the same group compete with each other?

Because the site gives Google no reason to prefer one page over another. Most groups copy one location template, swap the suburb name and publish. Google sees ten pages saying the same thing, picks one, and the other nine sit on page three.

06Do you work with groups that already have an agency?

Yes. I often own organic search and Google profiles while another team runs ads or brand. What I need is access to the site, analytics and the profiles.

07Should each location have its own Google profile?

Yes, one per real place where patients are seen, named and categorised to one standard.
